One of my mom's favorite sayings is "this too shall pass." It always gave me comfort while growing up, whether it was a failing grade or a breakup with a boyfriend; I knew that it was just a matter of time and all would be well again. In fact, one of my favorite stories in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks to My Mom is titled "This Too Shall Pass. My mom said it to me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer the first time in 1996 and again in 2018 -- 22 years later. Those words gave me hope for the future. Last week we had a brush with Tropical Storm Elsa; we were supposed to get a direct hit, but she stayed 50 miles offshore. We were spared the brunt of Elsa's wrath. Thank goodness because we're still cleaning up after Tropical Storm Eta. She destroyed the seawall that had to be rebuilt on Whitney Beach. Yesterday we were there and the beach was pristine. The sea oats are tall again; the seawall remained untouched, and the jetty of rocks protected us from the effects of storm surge. We're so grateful! And Elsa also stirred up the water enough that we came home with a bounty of shells and sand dollars. We didn't even have to go hunting; we just stayed in one spot! Whatever you're going through right now, just remember: This too shall pass!
Passionately yours,
